Christina Banalopoulou is an independent scholar, movement practitioner and performer researching the interconnections between performance and philosophy. She received her PhD from the School of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies, University of Maryland, College Park. In addition to UMD Christina has taught at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York where she explored movement analysis and performance practices as ethnographic research tools. Her most recent publication is entitled “The Tragedy of the Greek Debt Crisis: To Be Done With Judgment” and can be found in the journal of Performance Philosophy here: https://www.performancephilosophy.org/journal/article/view/202

Her joint work with Daniel Dilliplane takes an active and embodied approach to reimagining our social and political realities as we construct them in our relations with one another. Today they will be talking specifically about how these kinds of performance practices can be utilized as embodied training for field engagement.
